As fleet operators increasingly opt to track vehicles simply by monitoring the location of their drivers’ mobile devices, TrakM8 has struck a blow for more conventional dedicated tracking systems by entering a partnership with Catalina Software, which specialises in fleet management systems.

Catalina account manager Philip Batten comments: “TrakM8’s reliable telematics units are what we need to add value to our client offering.” He adds: “We are now able to offer our clients a cost-effective solution to high asset security and reliable event-driven tracking that highlights a number of configured events in real time.”

The Trakm8 unit will provide selected Catalina customers with hard-wired tracking and vehicle information to maximise security and further enhance the tracking data used by the company’s Freedom software package. Catalina users will be able to take advantage of Trakm8’s Swift web portal for monitoring driver behaviour.
